Rating and Serial Plate Information
Serial and rating plates communicate important equipment and product information to end users. They typically contain the manufacturer's name, product serial number, and electrical or safety information about the motor.
Industry Standards
The National Fire Protection Association requires certain information to appear on rating plates. NFPA 79 mandates the following information on all equipment nameplates:
- Electrical schematic number
- Full and largest load current
- Overcurrent protection/circuit breaker size
- Manufacturer and serial number
- Short circuit current rating
- Voltage, frequency, and phases
NEC Section 430.7(A) provides additional labeling requirements for electric motors. All our rating plates and serial plates comply with these industry standards and will remain clear and legible through years of use.
Identification Plate Materials
We use various materials to produce durable, long-lasting data plates. Our substrates are suitable for both indoor and outdoor applications. They can handle the demanding conditions found in industrial environments.
Plastic ID plates are lightweight and corrosion-resistant and offer high visibility through contrasting colors. Polycarbonate, lamicoid, and traffolyte materials are well-suited for pumps, fans, and other HVAC equipment.
Metal identification plates can provide years of service. Aluminum resists corrosion and will not tarnish. It is an excellent choice for engraving, etching, and metalphoto finishes. Stainless steel is durable and resists corrosion. It is a great choice for food and beverage manufacturing equipment and medical devices.
